About Al Qalam

Al Qalam is a creative space and online platform for spreading the arts of Arabic calligraphy and Islamic ornamentation and their contemporary applications, locally and internationally.

Awards & Honors:

• First place, Emerging Creative Enterprises Award, organized by the "Creative Circles" program, held in cooperation and partnership between the Ministry of Culture, EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) and the Goethe-Institut, and funded by the European Union in Egypt.
• Al Qalam selected for the Creative Design Incubator of the Nile Pioneers initiative, supported by QNB Bank, 2020.
• First place in the "Al-Mubadara" competition – Best Cultural and Artistic Project category, launched by the Ministries of Youth and Sports and of Culture (General Egyptian Book Organization), 2019.
• "Eidak Maana" award, launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the United Nations Development Programme with USAID, 2019.
• Al Qalam chosen to represent Egypt among the initiatives shortlisted for the finals of the Voluntary and Humanitarian Initiatives Award, held in Kuwait, 2019.
• Incubated and supported by the Nahdet El Mahrousa association, the Garage incubator – with support from Drosos (Switzerland), 2019.
• Grant from the Creative Industries Fund NL – Netherlands in collaboration with Tarek Atrissi Design, 2019–2021.
• Al Qalam selected among the Top 5 Entrepreneurs Awards, the five most impactful projects in Egypt, by Gen Egypt at the closing ceremony of Global Entrepreneurship Week, 2019.
